Childminders are probably the best form of childcare available to parents.  In fact Dr Penelope Leach, the NCMA president says:

     "I believe that for babies and toddlers, childminding alone is probably the best kind of daycare we’ve yet dreamed up.  It does potentially better for children, families and for society."   Source: The Guardian.

There are lots of reasons for this, but the main one is the large amount of time spent with a small number of children in the home environment.  However, childminding is a business and childminders must be registered and operate their business professionally.

Childminders can easily deal with a room full of screaming kids .  They can change nappies, wipe noses, give cuddles, deal with temper tantrums all at the same time.  But mention the words Cash Book or Accounts and many will run and hide. 

Why?  Probably because it's not why they work with kids.  If you work in childcare, it's because you love children, not because you like maths or wanted to be an accountant.
